Red Bull and craft cocktails typically don’t exist in the same realm. A craft cocktail uses top-notch ingredients and fresh juices, syrups and shrubs, whereas Red Bull pairs nicely with cheap vodka and bad decisions. However, El Chingon bartender Valentina Panic has proven that the two can, in fact, coexist.
At a recent holiday event, Panic showcased cocktails using the energy drink, with El Gran Toro being the clear favorite among guests. Exotico Reposado is the base spirit, with a house-made pear-basil shrub adding a tart kick with an herbaceous hint. Ancho Reyes liqueur brings a touch of heat and a topping of Red Bull sweetens things up.
It won’t give you wings, but it will give your palate an enjoyable taste of what can be achieved when Red Bull is behind the bar.
